About
- I’m a Vancouverite
- I was born and raised in the prairies
- I sound completely different when I’m talking to my mother on the phone
- I can never spell “prairies” right the first time
- I have social profiles everywhere because I like filling out forms
- I have obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, which is different from obsessive-compulsive disorder
- I’m taking medication for attention-deficit disorder
- I have Crohn’s Disease
- I have a bad heart and bad joints
- I coded my first blog in mid-2001 when no one knew what a blog was
- I wrote my first CMS in mid-2001 when no one knew what a CMS was
- I’ve been using Linux for 10 years
- I’ve been using Macs for almost 18 years
- I wish I were a better programmer
- I enjoy solving problems, even if someone else has solved them already in a much better way
- I enjoy clever solutions
- I have IM accounts on Yahoo!, AIM, MSN, GTalk (x2) and ICQ
- I have accounts on Hi5, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Identi.ca, OkCupid, Match.com, Slashdot, Digg, Flickr, YouTube, Last.fm, WikiSpaces, Wikipedia and many others - and rarely use most of them
- A great many of my accounts on various services are so old that the e-mail address I used no longer exists
- My ICQ number is seven digits - 2512286 - and is more than ten years old. I never, ever use it
- My Slashdot user ID is four digits - 8183 - and is around ten years old. I use it pretty often, and have much karma.
- I’m a Mac fanatic
- I spend a lot of time on IRC
- No seriously, I spend a lot of time on IRC
- I’ve been to (and given talks at) two conferences, but both of them were for PHP and I’m not especially proud of them
- I have two certifications, but both of them are for PHP and I’m not especially proud of them
- I did both Zend certifications in the timespan allotted for one. I don’t deserve to have passed either one, but most of the questions I would have answered wrong were on subjects that I had had or heard conversations on the day before the exams
- I’m a big fan of Python, as it seems to me like a language designed around philosophies that I agree with
- I eat at Denny’s a lot, because there’s one waitress who is always there and knows my roommate and I and what we like
- I like ‘going for sushi’ but I never actually order sushi - I order unagi donburi or something with teriyaki sauce on it
- I eat pasta almost every day, but I still order pasta at restaurants and quite enjoy it
- I can’t stand hamburgers, sausages, or water
- When I drink water, it tastes like something is wrong with it. If I keep drinking, I get ill and nearly throw up. If I run it through a Brita filter, it takes longer for this to happen, so I suspect I can taste (or sense?) the impurities in the water
- The only TV series I watch regularly are Heroes and Stargate: Atlantis. I may pick up Chuck or Dexter, but I haven’t yet, and I need to catch up on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
- The two biggest businesses my employer is involved in are perfume and cricket, neither of which interests me at all
- I would rather have better friends than more friends
- I never lend money to a friend and expect it back, as I would rather lose the money than the friend
- I’ll probably add more later
